I'm not a huge Pokémon fan, but I do like POPs! This one, if it's not obvious, isn't mine! It's for my special friend who deserves all the best POPs! Let's take a look at this Amazon exclusive of Charmander, shall we?

I didn't get this POP from its advertised exclusive location. Good ole Funko.com itself was the place I got it for a good price!

The first form of the classic Pokémon is a hyper-cute little creature that everyone wants to hug. A POP version of it is a perfect way to sell them as merch. Unproportioned big head with beady eyes, and for Charmander's case, give the little guy a giant ole smile! Details for this Pokémon are sparse, but then again, Charmander doesn't need it. He is sculpted to look like a Pokémon, and all of his recognizable traits are there: a tail with a flame, clawed hands and feet, and a boom. All of those are done with enough details to make it accurate to the fire Pokemon.

Charmander doesn't have a lot to offer with its pose, and honestly, it's fine. It's neutral, it can stand, and all in all, it doesn't look bad.

The colors is the selling point for this guy since he is a recolor of the orginal POP Charmander. I don't have that one, nor have I had the chance to review it, but just from pictures, it looks identical. Sure, I prefer the original color of Charmander, but I do like what they did here. The flatter color does allow the flame tail to stick out more, and overall, for a repaint, it's clean.

Again, I do prefer the bolder orange-red color of Charmander. Makes him stick out next to Squirtle and Bulbasaur. But the repaint is a nice touch.

Funny enough, I don't own any of these Pokémon. These are all borrowed.

Recommend? I'd say if you have the original one, you're set. Though this is a nice variant and my friend enjoyed it. It's simple, accurate, and clean. I'm glad it made her smile, and for that, it's an easy recommendation if you don't mind owning another Charmander.
Until Next Time!
