Funko POP: Ivan Ooze (MMPR the Movie 30th)

Ivan Ooze! The villain of the MMPR Movie! Yes, he also got a POP, and this is his first! A non-canon villain of the Power Rangers lore! So let's take a look at how his POP turned out, shall we?

Second to the last to complete the wave. And yes, we have the whole wave as I pointed out a few reviews ago.

Not a bobblehead

Just look at his face! So many details

Ivan Ooze is... an interesting one. As a villain, he was a force to be reckoned with. He did some serious damage, and he gave the Rangers a run for their money. He was comical as all heck, though, and it was hard to take him seriously. Still, I think that was the point. His design is your typical powerful sentai villain. He looks alien, menacing, and he wears a long robe with tattered designs and the whole nine yards. Ivan's POP managed to get all those details, and it looks great! So much intricate sculpt work, especially on his head. Honestly, there's so much sculptwork on Ooze that I feel like he got the most details from all the humanoid characters. The lightning effect coming out of his hands is such a nice touch, too.

Ivan Ooze has a simple pose, but it definitely just boldly announces his power! The lightning effects, translucent plastic, really adds an ominous presence to him.

Just on his face alone, Ivan has plenty of paint details that you don't normally see with POPs. The variation of purple and pale pink, it really does give him depth in his already busy, sculpted face. And then the rest of his clothes has a lot of color variations that completes his socerer-like presence. Topping it with the choice of the transluscent plastic for his powers and you get a complete package of paint shading, variant colors, a fashion statement, and power in full display.

Now that's a friendly mug, ain't it? All jokes aside, that's a shot to really appreciate the overall work put into this POP.

Wrinkled clothing, textured clothing... so much going on!

I was initially going to pass on Ivan Ooze but my special friend said we had to get him. She was right. This review is short and sweet but I hope I was able to articulate just how much I appreciate what Funko did with Ivan Ooze. It's an amazing POP and shame that he'll just go below the radar for many. Still, I highly recommend this guy. Plenty to love and appreciate.
