Funko POP: Darth Maul (Impressions)

I know it's strange to have anything Star Wars in my collection. But samurai and red katanas? That's not far from my nerdiness. Helps that this was another 2025 Christmas present from my special friend. So without further ado, let's take a look at this Darth Maul "Impressions".

This line is called "Impressions". While I could take a lot of guesses as to why they're called that, I'm going to leave that be and just say, the Stormtrooper looks awesome. Then again, so does Boba Fett.

Maul has one of those designs that just speaks to me. The red painted face, the all-black outfit, and that double-bladed lightsaber — he’s a work of art.
How do you make him even more intimidating and perfectly fit the mood? You give him a feudal Japan aesthetic, and this POP does exactly that. His face is turned into a mask styled after the oni demons, and it works incredibly well. They added fangs and tusks to match his horns, along with the signature sculpted snarl you see on those classic Japanese demon masks.
While there isn’t much color variation, the overall presentation is strong. There’s a ton of nice sculpted details — wrinkles, straps, ropes, and all the little touches that make it feel authentic. It’s really well done.

Darth Maul's pose is amazing! It's simple and not very dynamic, but it perfectly captures what these themed POPs are supposed to be: Samurai Maul.
He has his hand resting on his katana, ready to draw it at any moment — awesome stuff. Of course, because of the nature of his katana, we lose the iconic double-bladed lightsaber, but that's okay with me. I’ll never be a huge fan of the Star Wars POP stands, but this one works well enough, I guess.

A Sith's color scheme is pretty straightforward: red & black! The main work in the painting department is the face/mask, and it looks amazing. The lining is all good, not a lot of defects, and the red is just bold enough but not too vibrant. No real complaints here!

Now that is a mean mug! Oh, his katana isn't red! Just the sheathe! Shame!

My only other Star Wars POP is displayed. Yes, I have that Darth Vader too, but the less said about it, the better. Also, Mandalorian's base is a bit better than Maul's.

Surprisingly, I don't have a lot of Samurai-like POPs. These two are completely different from each other, and honestly, they don't look good standing next to each other.
POP: Hunters & Samurai

This is a pretty niche part of my collection. Honestly, it’s more for aesthetics than actual fandom, and that’s totally okay. One day, I might display him somewhere else, but for now, he stays right where he is.
I still really appreciate getting him as a gift, and I can highly recommend him for Star Wars fans who enjoy a fun little spin on their POPs.
Until Next Time!
