This is an odd addition to the collection, right? Truth to be told, this isn't mine. I just got the opportunity to look at it and review it. Some POPs bring something unique to the table even if the character in POP form is unknown to me. So without any more delays, let's get to the review, shall we?
Hello Kitty is older than a lot of the folks that take a visit to this site. 50 years of celebration and believe me, even if Hello Kitty has never been my thing, she has been around and consistently makes an appearance in one medium or the other. Regardless, the 50th anniversary is a big thing.
There's something a bit more unique with this POP. For one, it's not a "full body" POP of Hello Kitty. She's coming out of the cake which, in turn, the bottom of the cake became her stand. It's got some good details with the cake and I love how the upper half of the cake is now a makeshift hat for Hello Kitty. The eyes, the nose, and the layers of the cake are all sculped quite well. I even appreciate the "50" on Hello Kitty's bow. I really like how it all came together. I know, don't judge me.
Coloring is a highlight of this POP. The color choices really makes this POP stand out and the plastic used for her head also gives it a crystal-like aesthetic. The pastel blue and pink are odd choices but they really mesh in well. All in all, the paint job is clean and there's not much for me to complain about.
This POP is another case study of me looking at what Funko can do and how they can make things work. I really have no attachment to the character but I can really appreciate the work and thought process behind this POP. Recommended for Hello Kitty hardcores? Absolutely! There are others from the 50th bday of Hello Kitty so there's plenty to choose from!
Until Next Time!
