I hated what they did to Rhinox by the time we got to Beast Machines. I hate that Tankor arc so bad! Rhinox was one of my favorite Maximal from the OG Beast Wars, and to see him religated to that? Makes no sense! At any rate, glad he got a POP though! Let's take a look at the 4th Beast Wars POP from 2025, shall we?

The last one to complete this wave! Been a good set thus far! As Rhinox is the last, let's see if he carries on the consistency, eh?

I've always loved Rhinox's design. He had a simple but still very prominent look to him. It also helps that he is both the muscle and the brains of the group. He also had one of the best weapons: a Gatling gun! Two of them! He was kind, strong, outspoken, but loyal... which makes it even more infuriating that they went with the Tankor storyline (years later, and I'm still upset). Regardless, going back to his design, I always love how Rhinox would just stretch his jaw wide and then BOOM! The robot comes out! Must be painful as heck, but his lower jaw becomes his breastplate, his hands and feet are covered with his rhino hoofs. He has that face with those big red glowing eyes, which was always striking. The POP version of Rhinox definitely got all the details correct, and despite the big head proportion, Rhinox looks good, and this style does complement him. Again, details are sculpted in, and you can see it from his face, to his body and his limbs. I really can't complain when it comes to the sculpt work. It's all executed very well.

I will say that they fell short on his pose. Yes, it's not terrible since all of the Beast Wars POP are pretty neutral when it comes to their pose. My main qualm is that he doesn't have his Gatling gun out. Not one. That would've elevated this POP if he were at least holding it. But casting that complaint aside, he does continue the trend with the Beast Wars POP not being very dynamic in pose. It's done well for what it i,s so I can't fault it too much. Still, this area is a missed opportunity, especially for Rhinox.

Colors are spot on! Thanks to the texturing on his rhino form, the matted color makes it look as organic as possible. It contrasts well against Rhinox's robotic flesh, which is more glossy and metallic. The green areas and gold are just a delight next to Rhinox's rhino skin. There's a slight paint mishap on the 'mohawk' of Rhinox, but all in all, it's not terrible. Also, love those Maximal signs on his head.
That's a friendly face that you do not want to upset, that's for sure.

We are not going to talk about Beast Machines because they ruined Rhinox and Optimus. Still, seeing these two next to each other in their classic form is always a treat.
POP Optimus Primal is not my favorite out of the set, but it is high up there, and Rhinox? Well, he is one of the good ones, too!

Rhinox is near and dear to me and, honestly, I can honeslty say in good faith that I recommend him. Is he better in the set? I think so, but for the diehard Rhinox fans out there, he is a good POP, albeit missing that signature Gatling gun. As far as details and colors, he's awesome. Definitely another good catch for 2025.
Until Next Time!
