SNIKT! Wolverine POP! Yes, that's right! After realizing that I don't have that much POP merch for one of my favorite X-Man, I decided to take advantage of the celebration wave for the ferocious Canadian mutant! Is this one any good? Does it live up to the needs of putting a classic Wolverine POP in my collection? Let's find out, eh?
It's Wolverine's 50th anniversary for sure! All the POPs in this line could offer something to a lot of Wolverine fans, though I don't think I'm getting all of them.
This POP is every bit of a classic Wolverine that I wanted! He's got that Wolverine pose, that gritting teeth, the classic yellow & blue, and that mask we all recognize thanks to the 'mistake' of John Romita. I really appreciate this pose because it does lean on Wolverine's 'I'm ready to pounce on 'em, bub' stance. He's got his claws out and he is in the mood to hack and slash. I do love the sculpting work on his claws--they look straight and evenly shaped throughout and it's not flimsy or anything like that. One thing about this guy's posing is that he needed a figurine stand and Funko did not provide it. Luckily I was prepared but it might be a big deal for anyone who doesn't have one handy. Also, it could just be my POP that I couldn't get to stand so it might be me. Overall though, I'd say this department is well done and is a definite win.
The coloring is just right! The yellow is so vibrant and true to the source that it's hard to see this man as a feral and trained killer machine. The blue is also a perfect contrast, representing the X-Men's signature colors (which Logan represented the moment he was hunting Hulk). The tint of red and black gives a good compliment to contrast against the bright colors. His skin tone is good though the arm hair painted is a bit silly but... it's accurate so I'm all for it. The metallic silver for his claws is also a big win. So, yes, this department, no complaints.
It is a weird Wolverine crew next to the Luchador and Old Man Logan v.1. Though one can say that the Wolverine collection is growing, eh?
These two are classic, that much is obvious. These two had a lot of fun together during the Jim Lee days.
Can I recommend it? Yes, of course! This is a perfect POP of Wolverine. Lose the pose, love the coloring, and it leans on traits that we know Wolverine to have. Mine doesn't want to stand too well so I had to make adjustments, but overall, it's a win. If you're a Wolverine fan and want a no-nonsense POP of him, this is it! Thanks again to my friend for getting me this.
Until Next Time!
