My Commission: Arlen's Crusade (Gwen Stacy Earth-120703)
Arlen's Crusade isn't just about tying up sexy damsels and leaving them in Distress. It's also about making right what once went wrong. And, of course, leave it to Llythium-Art to make it an amazing piece of work! Folks, let's see what if Arlen had a hand in how the Amazing Spider-Man 2 ended.
It starts like a normal Crusade, doesn't it? Arlen is doing the usual thing while forgetting to give our girl Gwen Stacy a proper tight gag. If this page sequence is familiar, Telikor's Amazing Spider-Woman comic book was an inspiration!
There ya go! Arlen made sure that the gag is even tighter this time around! And... a gag kiss too! Awesome!
1:21 A.M.... did Arlen do it? Well, I'm aware that it wasn't exactly that time when Gwen Stacy met her end in TASM2. But the homage to The Amazing Spider-Man #121 did not fly over my head. Saying all of that, it really did make Gwen's death even more impactful in live action. Arlen, in all her wisdom, wanted to make a difference. This is where her Crusade was meant to do something good, right? Even though it kept Gwen within ropes for a good few hours.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will always be my favorite Spider-Man casting! While TASM2 was a very fawed movie, I will always stand behind the fact that the two sold the their roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy, respectively. The addition of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) in Season 2 was my homage to that story. Much thanks, Arlen Sirushi!
