Funko POP: Barrel (The Nightmare Before Christmas) "Glows in the Dark"

It's Halloween month, folks! Time to get more spooky POPs in the collection. Let's start with a side character from The Nightmare Before Christmas whose fame isn't exactly groundbreaking. The cool factor is that he isn't hyper-popular and, at the moment, he isn't played out. One of the three I'm reviewing this month: let's take a look at Barrel, one of the Trick-or-Treating Trio. Let's see if his POP lives up to his movie counterpart.

This wave is actually promising. Not entirely sure if I'm going to pull the trigger to get Jack and Sally, though.

Barrel has a simple design, all things considered. He looks like a kid in Halloween-themed pajamas — in this case, a walking skeleton look. He also has a mask, which, no surprise, is a skull mask. The funny thing is that Barrel doesn't really need one, since he already has a creepy-but-cute face as is. That expression, that grin, matches the mask he's holding in his hand. The sculpt work is simple, but it looks pretty good overall — accurate and far from sloppy on Funko's part.

Not much to say about the pose since Barrel is just standing there, hands out with a mask in his grip. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Barrel's colors aren't standard Halloween colors. He's got this lavender-like body, Joker-green hair, some purple, and other hues of green. It's a distinct look, and one you don't fully notice until you have a physical version of Barrel in front of you. That said, the paint job doesn't miss a beat, and all the paint effects do their job. No real complaints here.

This year, I've appreciated Glow-in-the-Dark POPs a bit more. This guy right here is no exception, and I love his glow effect. He's got a spooky vibe, for sure!

This is an adorable addition to the Halloween POP collection. Nicely sculpted, vibrant colors, and the glow-in-the-dark gimmick is a nice bonus. An easy recommendation. This one is the glow version, so if you want your Halloween shelf to have a little extra life after the lights go out, go for this one. Barrel isn't the biggest name from the movie, but he still looks the part, and the glow makes him more fun to display than a standard common would.
Until Next Time!
