Another addition to our Spiderverse collection! This time around, we got Doppleganger, the monstrous version of Spider-Man that should be utilized more than he is being used. So with that said, let's jump into the POP review! I got some things to say!

It's a special edition, and he doesn't have anyone else in his wave! Glad to have him, for sure! But Spidey POPs have the "Beyond Amazing" line, a The Amazing Spider-Man wave, and regular Spidey waves. So much, and I buy them all!

Another child of 90s Comics! Doppleganger is, as his name states, a doppleganger; for this creature's case, he is Spider-Man's doppleganger thanks to cosmic magic (I'd have to reread the Infinity War saga to remember all of the details). After all that cosmic shenanigan ended, this guy stayed behind and became a thorn in Spider-Man's side. He even participated in Spidey's big crossover: Maximum Carnage! And, truth to be told, I've always had a soft spot for him. As a POP, man do I love this guy. Those multiple arms! That face with the Venom-esque mouth, those detailed webbing, bug eyes, the little fingers curled and clawed... yeah, the sculpt work on this guy is amazing! The hands and those alien fingers really sell Doppelganger's feral nature. That and those teeth! Just a sight to enjoy!

This guy is a jumper and did this POP made sure Doppleganger had some serious air! And this is a legit pose since this creature spent a lot of time in the comics just snarling and pouncing at his victims!

Bright and vibrant. It's that '90s Spider-Man color scheme that pops out with how loud it is! It's glorious. Give Spidey a monstrous face, too, and you get an amazing POP. Also, fun fact,I found out recently, that Spider-Man fitter is his skin. That's not a costume.

That face is definitely something only a mother could love. The paint execution does show some flaws up close, but all in all, he looks great!

Yeah, this guy is crazy in the comics. He's just an all-out berserking Spider-Man with the hideous mouth and extra arms. Doppelganger's most memorable appearance was during Maximum Spider--a crossover that was at a large street scale within the Marvel Universe (during those days, major crossovers like that wasn't as common as they are now). There was a Spirit of Vengeance crossover where Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, and Venom were all involved in some skirmish against Deathwatch and his lackeys (Spirits of Venom). The details of that story are lost on me, but those did have awesome moments and some amazing comic covers!
Such a cool freaking fight these two had during their 90s counterparts! Venom meets a Spider-Man with all of the abilities and none of the smarts or the consideration for life.

A nice comparison to see these two side by side. Spidey in a plain and simple version of himself next to the derranged and feral cosmic clone of his!

Maximum Carnage players here! I do need updated POPs of Venom and Carnage, as I feel I need a full-on face-covered Symbiote father and son! Next to Doppelganger, they'd look sick!
POP: Maximum Carnage

As a footnote in Spidey's long list of rogues' gallery, I'd say Doppelganger has a place. He's a '90s creation and he will always be dear to my heart. As far as the POP, I don't think we'll ever get a Doppelganger POP any time soon (or at all), so this is a must. He's got awesome things going for him like great details, attention to details, nice pose, and spot-on paint details! He's a win in my book and I'm so happy this was gifted to me! Thank you to the specific person!
Until Next Time!
