Funko POP: Mewtwo

Another Pokémon POP for the year! This time we've got a heavy hitter by the name of Mewtwo! This is a POP I'm excited for since, you know, Mewtwo is one of my favorite Pokemons (I don't have a lot since I don't watch/play). This is actually a gift, but for now, let's see how awesome this one is! Let's get into the review!

It's a bizarre combo of Pokemons with this wave. Probably just gonna stick with Mewtwo, honestly.

Not a bobblehead

The profile shows a pretty spot-on resemblance to Mewtwo's anime/game counterpart.

Mewtwo's design is very alien-unique, even for a world full of Pokemons. Funny enough, his POP form isn't too far from his regular version, minus the oversized head, of course. So, to be honest, Funko did a fine job replicating his alien-like body, from the shape of his head and horns, his hands and oddly shaped fingers, the thin body with the hips, tail, and those Ninja Turtle-like feet. Mewtwo is well sculpted, and honestly, the accuracy part is really a strong suit of this POP.

I would've preferred a floating Mewtwo with his hand extended like it is now, but alas, this one is just fine. Nothing wrong with it, but Mewtwo gives me that Darth Vader vibes; if Vader used his force to make himself float, that is. All in all, it's a pretty good sculpted pose, so other than my preferred posture, this one is just fine.

Even without any kind of shading, this POP is colored and painted well. Mewtwo is a two-tone character but the light purple and darker purple is done quite well to give him that accurate and imposing look. Yes, I know. This character is purple (or apparently pale gray), and he has the aura of a top-tier final boss. His colors don't degrade said aura.

Just look at that face! Look at that expression! Loving it!

POP Charizard is another good-looking POP with some girth to him! Next to POP Mewtwo, these two look like an unholy alliance!

As I mentioned, Pokémon is not my thing, but I can appreciate great characters with awesome design. Mewtwo fits that category, and his POP does him justice. I can highly recommend POP Mewtwo for accuracy, the well executed sculp and colors--pose may not be my favorite, but all in all, he looks amazing. Pokémon fans will not be disappointed with this one. I know my friend appreciates having him as part of her POP collection! I swear, her collection is growing and growing!
