Funko POP: Momo Ayase (Glow in the Dark Hands)

I want Season 3 already! There are talks that it’s coming in 2027, but we’ll see. In the meantime, let’s check out this POP of Momo. Unlike her older POP, this Momo is doing a bit more, and that definitely means a plus. So, let’s check her out.

Yes, this Momo is not common, and it's not even advertised in the wave 1 promotional art. But the moment I saw this, I knew I had to get her in the collection.

They got Momo’s signature hair sculpted as accurately as possible, and that’s already a great start! The rest of Momo is sculpted just as well, with Funko choosing a popular outfit that she wore. As always, despite the stylized proportions, Momo retains the majority of her outfit’s details. I especially love how her jacket is given those organic folds and creases, as if it’s reacting to her powers manifesting. The details on her projected hands are nice, and they look like flowing energy—though I would’ve liked to see something that resembles actual hands. Other than that, it’s a strong execution with some great attention to the little details.

Momo in this POP is a bit more active. She’s not just standing there in her signature hands-on-hips pose. Instead, she’s actually releasing her magical hands toward her foes. Her arms are extended outward while the hand-like constructs stretch forward. Momo is standing battle-ready, which makes for a nice and fitting pose overall.

This outfit for Momo has a warm color palette to it. The main body of her outfit is a warm, flesh-like color, paired with black thigh-highs. Momo also has a dark red jacket and shoes that provide some nice contrast. All in all, Momo knows how to style and coordinate. Right off the bat, the red on the POP is a bit brighter than her cartoon counterpart, but everything else is accurate and the execution is spot-on.

It does look like she's throwing a 'Hadoken'.

I've started to discover the beauty of glow-in-the-dark gimmicks with POPs. If it's anything like how Momo's powers glow above, then it's a done-deal winner. The colors aren't accurate to how her powers are, but it's good enough.

Yeah, can definitely see the difference in these two, right? Though the face and head sculpt are pretty consistent!

If they come out with a dynamic Okarun that I like, this Momo might need a partner.

See! Ms. Ayase knows how to style! She's not that anime protagonist who wears the same clothing all the time.

As much as I like this one, owning the standard Momo might be enough for casual DanDaDan fans and collectors. But if you really must have all of Momo Ayase’s collectibles, this is a good addition for sure. The pose is awesome, the glow gimmick is strong, and the sculpt is nice. I don’t regret having her in my collection at all. As I said in the beginning, if anything else, this POP just gets me even more excited for Season 3! Until Next Time!
