Funko POP: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

Hear that glass shattering? Yeah, you're in trouble! Stone Cold Steve Austin is here.... in POP form, of course. Truth be told, he is my favorite wrestler! Hailing from the highly regarded "Attitude Era", this POP, I feel, should be a fitting tribute to one of the most over WWE/WWF's characters ever. So with that said, let's see if this is just nostalgia or if it's actually an awesome POP. Let's go!

Yeah, whenever you heard that glass shattering, you knew that there was hell to pay!

I'll be upfront now and say that I don't see myself getting any other POPs here. I'm not much of a fan of the modern WWE era. For me, nothing can top the Attitude Era and the Monday Night Wars. Happy to have Stone Cold, though!

Not a bobblehead
Not a bobblehead

Those iconic vests, the black trunks, kneepads, knee brace, and that raw aura that just oozes out of Stone Cold Steve Austin... that's tough to capture. For a POP to nail it, they have to channel as much of Austin's intense energy as possible, even in a stylized, cartoonish figure. And this one does a solid job with the accuracy and key details of his classic ring gear.

You're not getting super-intricate tiny elements here, but the sculpt handles the essentials well—every piece looks like what it's supposed to be. The musculature is a nice touch too; Stone Cold wasn't built like a bodybuilder, but he always looked jacked and in prime shape, and this POP gets that athletic vibe across perfectly.

The pose is what really sells it! This is Stone Cold Steve Austin making his way down the ramp in that signature swagger—only the Texas Rattlesnake could pull off that walk. And this POP nails the notion that he's about to step through the ropes and open up a can of whoop-ass on whoever's in the ring.

No complaints from me on this front—they did Stone Cold justice!

Where's the 3:16???
Where's the 3:16???

The paint and colors have a couple of noticeable complaints: the skin tone mismatch between the head and body stands out quite a bit. On most POPs, a slight difference might slide, but with a figure that's mostly black leather attire and exposed skin, it's pretty obvious and harder to ignore.

Also, the skull decal on the back of the vest is missing some key details—like the blue outlines around it and the "3:16" (or "Stone Cold") text on the forehead. Maybe the latter couldn't be included for religious/licensing reasons, but they could've approximated it somehow.

Despite those mishaps, the overall colors still work well enough. The black has a solid, mundane faux-leather look in places, the skull decal pops where it counts, and the "Austin 3:16" on the front looks great. All in all, not bad—the paint job gets the job done without major complaints beyond those spots.

Now that's a mean mug from the Texas Rattlesnake! Get ready! He's about to give you a Stone Cold Stunner!

I don't believe Stone Cold ever went against the New Generation Undertaker. If Stone Cold was even in the same company during that era, I believe he was going under the moniker: The Ring Master. Still, these two had a long-lasting feud during the Attitude Era... a new Undertaker POP soon, then?

I know it's the wrong WrestleMania—a year too early since their legendary match actually happened at WrestleMania 13. But I had to get Stone Cold and Bret Hart in the same ring together and these POPs look awesome together! These two have one of the most iconic feuds in WWE history! Just check out the video below:

As a huge Stone Cold fan, I'd say this is a must-have. Sure, I've got my gripes with it, but all in all, it's a solid POP. I highly recommend it—especially since it's the most current Steve Austin figure out there as of this review. Happy to finally have him in the collection! Perfect timing for March 16th, too.

"You want a war? You're gonna get one."

On a different note, an amazing video series I've been watching for the past four years just ended. WrestlingBios archived a chronological, show-by-show breakdown—covering nearly every pay-per-view—and it was such an incredible experience reliving those wrestling days. The guys on that channel did an outstanding job.

Also, Stone Cold Steve Austin racked up a ton of awards across matches and moments, and he even took home MVP as voted by the 3K fans who tuned in. Awesome stuff.

Until Next Time!
