Good Smile: Lightning (FFXIII)

My second Good Smile statue of 2026! Yeah, we're bringing some variety this year! This time around, it's Lightning from FFXIII! I've been pretty excited for this statue, so let's go ahead and see how she fares as a high-quality statue, shall we?
This is the second time I've come across a Good Smile statue, so the box is somewhat familiar. It's also something I can appreciate since it protects and it is visually appealing.
I like that 'book' cover that gives this line a bit of a 'Hot Toy' vibe. Then again, the price range is almost as much as one, so there's that.
The silhouette design is also something I appreciate.
Packaged and protected! So far, I've had nothing but a protected figure inside the box, seems that their method is working thus far.
Lightning is the main protagonist of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy (even if she isn’t the main playable character in FFXIII-2, she remains the central driving force). She was positioned to be Square Enix’s next Cloud Strife, but opinions remain divided on whether she ever truly claimed that mantle. One thing is certain: her games never reached the same level of commercial success as Final Fantasy VII, so in that regard, she doesn’t surpass Cloud. Still, she has a dedicated fanbase, and a high-quality statue of her is always welcome.
Lightning’s outfit has a distinct Final Fantasy flair — complex, layered, and full of personality. The left side features a half-cape, armband, and shoulder pad, while the right is more minimal. She has a pouch on her left thigh, multiple pockets, buttons, straps, and the whole nine yards. True to many Final Fantasy heroines, she’s not afraid to show some leg thanks to her skort, and she finishes the look with killer boots. Altogether, the ensemble is stylish, sexy, and carries that undeniable main character energy. She may not be the most extravagantly dressed character in the series, but she absolutely looks the part — and she looks amazing doing it.
Good Smile has done an excellent job capturing her design in this statue. Every intricate detail of her outfit is present and carefully sculpted — from the straps and trinkets to the way her clothing flows. Even the sense of movement in her cape feels organic. Her signature rose-pink hair, facial features, and long legs are all here, making her instantly recognizable.
The pose is based on an in-game render. It’s not a high-action stance, but rather a confident, mid-stride walk that feels very in-character. Her cape flows naturally behind her, adding a beautiful sense of motion. It’s a calm but striking pose that lets you fully appreciate all the work put into the figure.
Lightning’s color scheme mixes military tones with strong crimson hues and subtle pink accents to reflect her femininity. While some Final Fantasy characters are wildly colorful, Lightning’s more grounded palette still has plenty of depth. Good Smile handled it beautifully — the paint is clean, accurate, and brings out the different textures (cloth looks like cloth, leather looks like leather). Her Blazefire Saber also looks excellent in its sword form.
Her rose-pink hair is another standout, retaining that signature spiky style while still looking feminine and dynamic. The hair sculpt implies movement beautifully.
From this angle, Lightning looks like a total fashionista who somehow balances a military career with incredible style.
The contrasting color and 'material' between her fair skin and the dark hues of her accessories and outfit is a testament to the paint choice and the texturing.
All of the nuances of her outfit translate well into this statue! The lighting really gives that scabbard a realistic look with all the leather dents and wrinkles.
Much like the previous statue, the stand is also simple, sturdy, and it marks the Final Fantasy Lightning comes from. It serves its purpose, and it's got a sleek and fancy feel to it!
Noctis stands at 5'9" while Lightning is 5'7", and the height difference between the two statues feels accurate. The quality and level of detail are very consistent between them. These two were originally meant to be the faces of the Fabula Nova Crystallis project before Versus XIII became Final Fantasy XV. Seeing them together is pretty cool.
The PAKs may look good, but next to this Good Smile statue, they don't hold a candle. Also, posing them to have the same posture as the statue is awkward. And, yes, I have a FFXIII-2 Knight of Etros Lightning!
Much like Noctis, the height comparison isn't exactly what you would call scaled correctly. The sight of Tifa and Lightning is always a nice picture.
They're both stunning in their own right, and honestly, these statues are just a contrast with each other that it is hard to compare. Still, the Static Arts of Tifa and Aerith are still some of my favorite FF statues I own.
Square Enix: Good Smile, PAK, & Static Arts
I’m genuinely impressed with Good Smile’s Static Arts line so far. The details, poses, and coloring are all handled with great care, and the price feels justified. They’ve already announced Fran, Tidus, and Yuna, and I’m hoping we eventually see Terra, Rikku, or even more surprises down the line.
If you’re a Lightning fan and can spare the budget, I highly recommend this statue. You won’t regret it!
