RIP Sovjann
I received a notification a few hours ago that this talent passed away. Sovjann is an artist I’ve worked with at least once a year for the last six years, since I first commissioned him. He passed away on 10/22/26, but I didn’t get the news until quite recently. Another tragedy.
But as always with these kinds of things, I just want to celebrate the work he’s done.
My first commission with him. The Victorious Vixens coming together. I fell in love with this work right away. In fact, it's the background for my blog section of my page! Such a happy picture of the four!
And then, of course, the gals got into some DiD while teaming up! I had Sovjann draw them in alternate outfits to give the gals some variety.
The "13 Nights" series with Shadow was a lot of fun! Having Sovjann join the fray by putting Lightning and Cidny (I know, Cindy) together.
Season 2 of Arlen's Crusade will always have that bittersweet hint. Sovjann collaborated with me for the cover art, and I loved it. I remember telling Sovjann that he drew Arlen so well from all different angles. Such a good commission!
Funny enough, he's done two anime gals for the Crusade, both upside down. Of course, I love these works from him.
And, ironically, this was my last commission with Sovjann. A tribute to Lathiira, at that. The irony isn’t lost on me. I just remember saying that I couldn’t wait to work with him again. Honestly, I was planning on lining up one more Crusade with him sometime during 2027… but you know, here we are.

He’s worked with a lot of commissioners over the years of his activity. The consensus always leaned toward him being a pleasant person who did everything he could to deliver a product that his clients would love. The pieces above are just small fractions of the work he’s put out there.
My experience with Sovjann echoed everyone else’s. He was very kind, straight to the point, but he never once gave me the vibe that what he was doing was a hindrance. He seemed to have genuinely loved delivering. While we may not have been close or even gotten past the personal level, I can honestly say that knowing he’s not on the other side of the keyboard ready to collaborate is a sting. I will miss him.
And my condolences to those who had the pleasure of knowing the person behind the pen.
Rest easy, Sovjann. Know that you’ve made plenty of people smile and plenty happy, even if it was just through collaborations. And I feel that at a certain point, I’m going to come across more of your work from your commissioners. Looking forward to it.
