I miss my Super Nintendo days of gaming. Some odd three decades ago, I was playing games like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Link to the Past, and of course, Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy III in North America). Thirty two years later, and it's still one of those games that brings fonds memories to a lot of gamers. So here's to celebrating FFVI's 32nd anniversary. Sharing some of the community's amazing artwork, canonical images, and cosplayers! So let's go.

I did not play this game on day one, sadly. I didn't actually play this until a year or two after the North American release date. Regardless, it was a true joy the day I played it for the first time.
Even though these CGIs are a bit dated, they still garner a whole lot of emotions from someone who loves this world. Also, that music!
Artwork
As with all of my anniversary posts, this one will be a share dump post. Please check out the artists! They deserve all the credit.
That is such an epic picture! Very 90s anime.
These are beautiful. Very complex and extra — in all the best ways. I love the artistic take on the gals!
All the playable characters and Kefka! In this 'inked' look! This is a well-done art!
The "Magitek Knight" famously gave a 'default' for Terra's look. The blonde hair and that complex but sexy red outfit became the 'go-to' look. I don't mind it, but I prefer her Benevolent Maiden look.
There are versions of Terra that look similar to Magitek Knight, but she has green hair. It's also a good look for her.
The green-haired variant, at times, shows Terra wearing the default 'Magitek Knight' outfit. Honestly, green or blonde, it works.
A lot is happening here, and they are all good things! And everyone is up to different things, too!
Relm Arrowny is hardly a character featured in artwork (ironic), unlike Terra and Celes. This piece is pretty awesome, though, and I'm glad Relm is given some love. Funny enough, her job class was featured in the latest expansion of FFXIV, so there's that.
The Benevolent Maiden look is my favorite outfit Terra wears. I'd say, it's the second 'default' outfit, and I'm hoping one day to see it as a tangible addition to my "Victorious Vixen" shelf.
Locke is one of my favorite characters in Final Fantasy. I was never particularly good with him in Dissidia NT, but he was still a lot of fun to play.
Then there’s Terra in her striped outfit. It’s not bad, but I definitely don’t see it as a top-tier look for Ms. Branford. Still, she pulls it off well, and the artwork by SiO2nisankakeis is quite amazing.
If they only remake the series with the sprites above. I'd be happy. So will many people would be too!
The rivalry between Terra and Kefka is epic. A character arc showing that Terra is far more than what Kefka made her experience. The style and the coloring really give the artwork above that Final Fantasy logo charm!
That Terra artwork where she's transforming into an Esper is one of my personal favorites. The Locke and Kefka are also amazing!
The main gals of FFVI!
Yes, technically this is Dissidia Duellum, but it's Terra nonetheless. Goes to show that Terra maintains her role as a regarded protagonist.
Some outfit idea for the Half-Esper. Honestly, the outfit she got is just fine, but I wouldn't have minded the second one.
Cosplay
Don't see a lot of FFVI these days. But when I come across some, they're usually full of life and care! The photoset below is a good example.

Love how their weapons are done well, too! Even Sabin has knuckles!

Just the overall ambiance of the photoshoot, the costumes' designs, the location, and the photo angles... it truly feels like an adventure inside the world of FFVI!
Commissioned Artwork
Obviously, I've done more than a handful of Terra Branford artworks. Yes, some SFW stuff! Hoping to get other FFVI characters in the mix. I won't talk about them much since most of what I have to say about them is in their respective post.
Closing note
As a game I’ve held in high regard for a long time now, I’m always going to make sure to celebrate Final Fantasy VI’s anniversary. Sure, I’m a couple of days late this year, but in my defense, more amazing material kept rolling in. Regardless, do check out the artists behind these artworks — they all deserve every bit of credit in the world for the beautiful pieces they created.
As far as FFVI goes… Happy Anniversary! Here’s to many more years of celebrating the pure awesomeness this game has given to so many gamers over the decades!
Until Next Time!
