Funko POP: Mayor of Halloween Town (Blacklight)

Back to spooky POPs! This one is a rather unexpected addition to my growing collection of Halloween POPs! This one is a good one so let's get to the review, shall we?

I don't know if I can bring myself to get a full set of blacklight POPs. Maybe depends on the series/characters? Regardless, this is a gift from my good friend and she got it for a good price. Not going to complain and also, there's some good things about this POP.

Not a bobbledhead

First and foremost, this one's got a gimmick unique to itself: The Mayor can have an alternate display for its face! Accurate to his movie counterpart! I do like this feature! it does add another option for display which is always nice. It's what Mighty Muggs tried to do before they failed for a second time (remember Mighty Muggs?). I'll talk more about the face options in a bit but I will say that the sculpting details is pretty consistent throughout the POP. The Mayor already has a pretty unproportioned body shape so to put it in a stylized form isn't too far fetched. The pose isn't anything dynamic but it does allow for us to fully take in the sculptwork put into this POP.

The ribbon, the megaphone, the hat, in fact, his entire clothing has some amazing details to it. His face, teeth, eyes, and lips, they're all sculpted in and not painted, which really gives him a lot of emotions. Believe me, there's a lot of work on this guy and I appreciate it!

You gotta love that hat! And yes, he has a face on the back of his head!

Since it's a black light, the colors are vibrant and full of variety. It's very unique and so far and away from the original version of this POP. I mean, just look at the original color scheme; accurate to the movie, yes, but darker and more conservative than the blacklight version. I can't say which one I like better but I do know that I'm getting more blacklights this year than I did the previous. Truth to be told, I'm digging the color gimmick. Maybe not for every character, of course. For the Mayor, that purple suit, the orange and yellow skin tone along with some hints of vibrant blue.... yeah it's good. Very unorthodox but that's what blacklight does.

There is plenty to like with these options, though personally I went with happy. It's a simple swiveling of the head that changes the emotion so not hard at all.

Maybe one day a blacklight Jack Skellington, eh?

Yes, I'm starting to get more black-light variants, aren't I? The Mayor is definitely my favorite one out of the three!

Gifted from my good friend, a low pricepoint, and it's a good, detailed, and well colored POP w/ two good gimmicks going for it (alternate head & blacklight). I have to say that this is a POP that surprised me. I like it more than I thought I would and it's probably a standout, truth to be told. Staying with my Halloween set up and it's a seasonal POP, needless to say, my Halloween POP collection is growing and I am very pleased to have this! Thank you! I highly recommend this one! Might even wanna see what the regular POP looks like in person.

Until Next Time!
