What's this? Yes, that's right! It's Sebastian from The Little Mermaid! This is a gift for my friend who made it her mission to collect some of the Disney side characters' POPs. Sebastian, being part of one of my favorite Disney films for sure is a good buy for me and a good gift for her! With all that said, let's take a look at his POP, shall we?
There's quite a bit on this set. A lot of The Little Mermaid characters!
Sebastian has a pretty unique and recognizable look for a crab. When someone sees him, one can easily recognize where the crab is from! Right off the get-go, this POP of Sebastian is a figurine of him. He's already stylized as a character, so Funko doesn't have to do much to pull this character into POP form. His head may be slightly bigger, and he gets those sylized POP eyes, but it looks like Sebastian. The details are amazing, bringing Sebastian's crustacean features most accurately: the six legs, the crab claws, his shell, all done well! The details on the sand, the seashell, the seaweed, and the music book are all done well--which, mind you, works as Sebastian's figure stand.
I love his pose! Sebastian is a musical crab (in a musical animated movie), so this is perfect. Funko got the character and the movie vibes spot on! I have no complaints in this department since this is Sebastian!
The colors are quite impressive! Sebastian's colors are spot on compared to his cartoon counterpart! The red-orange body, mixed with the pastel-looking orange, gives Sebastian that recognizable look. I love how the sand, the grass, and his book are all painted. The whole thing is vibrant and very dynamic to look at!
When you look at it up close, you can see the weird areas for Sebastian's legs. Everything else is done so well, I wonder why they couldn't cover up those things for his legs? But it's not that big of a deal. Also, curious if those music notes are applicable, and what song is it?
I'm sure seeing that moment, Sebastian wasn't in the mood to make music!
There's a little Sebastian POP next to Ariel! Like I mentioned, it doesn't take much to replicate Sebastian as a POP. One doesn't change a lot of things with him to make him into a POP, as you can see!
POP: The Little Mermaid
This is a good-looking POP. It's a very accurate representation of Sebastian, and the only thing really missing from it, being a replica, are the eyes. All in all, he's got a good pose, he's got the details, and the colors are done well. A recommended POP for those who are fans of The Little Mermaid!
