2025 Highlights: Action Figures & Toys

It's a POP-dominated year, and that's no exaggeration. We saw all of this coming during 2024, but this time around, it's really gone that way. To be honest, I got a lot of POPs this year! Maybe too much?

  1. Accuracy: Did this figure capture the likeness of the source material? This is subjective, as 'likeness' may also be in the eye of the beholder. There is a definitive look for a character, but there are also many different artists for someone like, let's say, Spider-Woman, which makes "definitive" really subjective.

  2. Price: Regardless of the price paid, did it meet its overhead price? Enough bells and whistles to justify its price tag?

  3. Availability: How rare is this figure? Was it hard to get? It's not a BIG factor to a LOT of the action figures on the list, but it is something that plays a small part.

  4. Preference: Of course, some of my fandoms do come into play. This might very well be the biggest factor as to WHY these action figures are on the list.

Much like last year, the categories are going to remain the same like last year! Hold on tight, it might be a very long list.

POPs

The main core of my collecting for 2025! As before, there will be a few runner-ups along with a main top ten. Believe me, I had a lot of runner-ups compared to what I actually listed here. It was really hard to take POPs off the list, but at a certain point, I had to—otherwise this would’ve turned into a very long list.

Needless to say, let’s get started, shall we?

Runner Up - "X-Men (Xmas 2025)"

This was an amazing set! The reviews came later in the year, but Holiday POPs are almost always going to land a runner-up spot. I’ve already said all I can say about them in my reviews, so check it out and enjoy the POPs!

Runner Up - "Gogetas (Base, SSJ, Blue)"

The three Gogetas were a must for me. It was hard to include just one without bringing in the other two. They make for a great progression set, with Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta being a completely different POP compared to the base Gogeta and SSJ Gogeta—the latter being a Chase, mind you.

Runner Up - "Gwenverse (Iron-Gwen & Cap-Gwen)"

Including the Gwenverse was kind of odd, since these POPs didn’t really break any new ground—but I can’t help but like them. They’re silly, they’ve got good detail, and the colors are vibrant. All in all, they’re just a solid addition for me.

Runner Up - "MMPR The Movie Set"

The moment this set was announced, I knew we were going to have them. And while individually, maybe not one of them will get a spot as one of the tens or a runner-up, collectively, they freaking rock.

Another Holiday POP that somehow stood out a bit more than I thought it would. Sure, her peers have all their winning qualities. Rapunzel over here just has a warmer feeling to her. Can't really explain it, but I will say I love how the way her Winter Dress is designed just looks almost exactly like her original dress, but with that Festive Spirit.

Runner Up - "Mew & Mewtwo"

I seriously wanted Mewtwo in the top ten, but another Pokémon beat him out. Mew? She's not on my top ten, but she's so memorable for how fun she is—she deserves runner-up! Her and Mewtwo!"

Runner Up - "SSG Vegeta"

SSG Vegeta had every chance to join his fellow Dragon Ball POP brethren on my 2025 top list. Unfortunately, he has some paint defects that I just can't overlook. He's still a great POP, and I love having him in my collection, but those little mishaps hold him back.

Onslaught was a sleeper hit for me. Not once did I think he would make the top ten, but the moment I opened him up and started taking photos, I knew he was something special. I love the pose, those metallic highlights, and that massive helmeted head—it just commands attention. This POP has a ton of presence on the shelf, and the sculpt really sells how imposing Onslaught is. Absolutely love this POP.

Simple, but accurate and well executed!

With how many Pokémon POPs I picked up last year, you’d think I was a huge Pokémon fan. Truth be told, they were all for a friend—but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate what I got her.

Charizard is an absolute beast. This POP is awesome and definitely stood out among all the Pokémon POPs she received. It has presence, great sculpting, and just looks powerful on display.

That flying pose just sells it for me
That flying pose just sells it for me

Flying Superman, hovering Superman, and Superman saving Lois are some of my favorite poses of the Man of Steel. This POP right here from the 2025 movie nailed it when it comes to a flying Superman. Deserved a spot in my top ten for sure.

Imagine when it's that time of the month for this gal...
Imagine when it's that time of the month for this gal...

The moment I saw her on preorder, I had to jump the gun! Marvel Rivals brought companies like Funko a reason to make more Marvel characters and having an obscure character like Galacta get a POP? Yeah I'm down!

I love this movie! Wish they had Peggy though.
I love this movie! Wish they had Peggy though.

Truth be told, this isn't my set but it deserves a spot because of the joy it brought me seeing my special friend so happy to have this.

5.) Dragonball (Goku SSJ, Vegeta FF, Beast Gohan)

I try to be as particular as I can with my Dragon Ball POP collecting. My main focus is collecting all the Vegetas, but I keep ending up with others along the way. To be fair, some of them were gifts—and honestly, I’ve had a blast with my Dragon Ball collection in 2025. It makes total sense why so many Dragon Ball POPs ended up on the list.

4.) Epyon

Epyon was something else! That design is peak too.
Epyon was something else! That design is peak too.

It's very easy to point out just how much work was put into the Epyon. Deserved a spot and there's no other way to put it! POP Epyon is an amazing addition to my collection!

A Holiday POP making it on the top tens? Considering how long I've been waiting for this POP, this one delivered.
A Holiday POP making it on the top tens? Considering how long I've been waiting for this POP, this one delivered.

As I mentioned, I've been waiting for this POP for a long time now. Finally getting Elsa's Winter Dress in POP form and 8 years after she debuted it... It's something special. It helps that it's a well-done POP and perfect for the Christmas spirit!

I still hear that opening theme

With Funko teaming up to give us G1 Transformer POPs, it was always in the back—way back—of my mind that Beast Wars might be possible someday. Well, 2025 happened, and we finally got these beauties. They’re all equally impressive, and I’m genuinely happy to have them in my collection. They absolutely earned their #2 spot for a myriad of reasons. Check out my individual reviews to get the full gist of it!

Tommy's better Red Ranger form!
Tommy's better Red Ranger form!

I didn’t expect to like this POP as much as I do, but Zeo Ranger Red is genuinely awesome. Honestly, it’s a combination of a lot of things that helped him snag the #1 spot. I’m not going to get into all the details here since I’d just be repeating my review—but yeah, he’s fantastic. I’m also really excited for the rest of the Zeo Rangers coming this year!

POP Spiderverse

2025 continued the trend of expanding the Spider-Verse POPs—both in quantity and, honestly, in quality too. There are a lot of great ones, and much like other POPs, there are several pairings and sets involved.

This was an amazing set with some notable standouts!
This was an amazing set with some notable standouts!

Honestly, if this entire wave had released in 2026, it would’ve easily landed on my 2026 list. There are so many great POPs in this wave, but most of the ones I picked up happened during 2025. Either way, it’s an awesome and very memorable wave.

Runner Up - "1st Appearance / Diamond"

What if Spider-Man came in blinging on his first appearance?
What if Spider-Man came in blinging on his first appearance?

I've had the 1st Appearance Spider-Man POP for a while. Finally got him this year, and a Diamond version came out for 'free' (rules and regulations apply with the term free). Still, it's a good POP! Definitely deserves a mention.

Runner Up - "The Last Stand"

I absolutely love this suit
I absolutely love this suit

This is one of my favorite Spider-Man variants/outfits. It doesn’t really work as a “modernized” look, nor did it stick for very long, but I still like it. If he had been given a more dynamic pose, he would’ve ranked higher on the list. Alas, that wasn’t the case—but he’s still worthy of a mention.

10.) "Spider-Man"

Plain-jane but still a good model to use for comparison.
Plain-jane but still a good model to use for comparison.

I needed a standard Spider-Man POP that I could use as a reference alongside the other Spidey POPs I pick up. I couldn’t keep relying on the TASM2 Andrew Garfield POP—even though, for a while, it was the closest thing I had to a “default” Spider-Man.

This one is simple and not especially remarkable, but it has solid detailing, clean colors, and most importantly, it lookslike Spider-Man. I’ve already used it quite a bit for comparison, so for me, it’s a definite win.

He's bonde under there. My childhood reminds me.
He's bonde under there. My childhood reminds me.

The Sensational Spider-Man isn’t high on a lot of people’s lists when it comes to the best Spider-Man looks. For me, though, this POP was a must because I genuinely appreciate the Ben Reilly saga—as messy and convoluted as it was. The pose is very reminiscent of a specific comic book cover, and I really love that design choice. It’s essentially a standard Spidey POP with a slight tweak, which honestly sounds like my kind of POP.

I'm not sure why they called FF Spidey suit into an OSCORP suit. Two different suits.
I'm not sure why they called FF Spidey suit into an OSCORP suit. Two different suits.

I've never seen a single episode, and the choice to name this "Oscorp Suit" still baffles me. But the suit looks nice, and as a POP, it looks even better! I like it aesthetically. He's also got a nice pose, so I can't complain.

Yes. We've come far with the suits in live-action.
Yes. We've come far with the suits in live-action.

It’s all about the details. While this suit looks pretty atrocious in live action, as a POP I can still appreciate the loyalty to how it appeared on screen. There’s plenty to appreciate here, even if the source material itself feels dated and doesn’t quite meet today’s standards.

The hood makes him more emo

Lots of Ben Reilly POPs this year. This Scarlet Spider was nabbed pretty early on this year, but I kept going back to him as one of my personal favorites. His spot is definitely well deserved.

He hangs out with Hulk, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider

This was a special gift and a piece I've wanted for a bit. Loving the pose and the details of this Fantastic Four costume is quite neat! Pretty good POP.

All the power, NONE of the Responsibility
All the power, NONE of the Responsibility

This was an older one and a Walgreens exclusive (back when they used to get those). I wanted this one in my collection regardless of the other Kaine already in my possession. I love this one! I love this suit.

3.) "Symbiotes: TAS Spider-Man & Peter/Spider-Man"

The black symbiote suit is one of my personal favorite Spider-Man looks. Give me a decent POP of it, and it’s almost guaranteed to make the list. I picked up three of them in 2025—yes, three—but I’m only showing two here for a good reason.

That's not a costume, that's his skin!
That's not a costume, that's his skin!

OH man! This POP was a long time coming, and the moment I found out it was gifted to me, I freaked out! The feral-looking face, those arms, the pose, the details! I'm super excited to have him in my collection!

He beat the mind-controlled Avengers while wearing this suit.
He beat the mind-controlled Avengers while wearing this suit.

Another oldie that was gifted to me, and man, oh man, did he make an impression. All those details, all of that work, the color scheme... I love this POP. I know I got a lot of amazing Spider-Man POPs, but this one just took the cake last year!

Imported Figurine

The amount—and type—of imported figures I picked up in 2025 mirrors what I collected in 2024. I doubt 2026 will change that much, but we’ll see. All I know is that there’s plenty to appreciate in the ones I did get.

FuRyu: Ver 1.1a 2B (YoRHa No. 2 Type B) Noodle Stopper Figure
FuRyu: Ver 1.1a 2B (YoRHa No. 2 Type B) Noodle Stopper Figure

Can't have a year without a 2B figurine, huh? This one is neat because the way she's posed isn't typical for my display. That and 2B knows how to make a sitting pose look elegant.

Talk about a blast from the past figurines! Yes, I collected DC figures heavily back then, regardless of their pricepoints. It was fun reviewing them again! Not making any top-tier list, but I always appreciate the nostalgia!

Bishoujo: Sadako Yamamura(The Ring)

7 Days?
7 Days?

Every year, I tend to pick up just one Bishoujo, and I’m perfectly fine with that. It forces me to be more selective, and this year, Sadako from The Ring took the cake. She’s creepy, but there’s also a subtle sense of allure to her design. It definitely helps that the Bishoujo line maintained its usual level of quality with this statue. A worthy catch for 2025!

MISC

Every other catch for my collection that doesn't really fit anywhere else. Some of these are just a worthy mention because of how unique they are.

MTG: Final Fantasy VI Set
MTG: Final Fantasy VI Set

I don’t play MTG, but slap Final Fantasy into the mix, and you’ve got my attention. Put Terra front and center, and oh boy—it’s a must. While I have zero idea what’s actually going on with the game itself, I do love the cards, and it’s something I genuinely appreciate having added to my collection.

These aren’t topping any lists or winning awards. They’re here because they’re memorable—because of the nostalgia tied to collecting blind bags and doing it with people I love collecting with. They hold a special place in my collector heart.

Transformers Generations Selects Age of the Primes: G1 Trypticon

TERRORIZE! Wait... wrong Transformer
TERRORIZE! Wait... wrong Transformer

I’ve already said a lot in my full review of Trypticon that I simply can’t replicate here. Seriously, this gift is filled with so much love and thought, and I appreciate it immensely. I’m not a Transformers collector by any stretch of the imagination—but I am sentimental, and my god, I can’t thank my friend enough for this figure. With all that said, he was fun to transform, pose, and show off, so all in all, it's a win-win to have this guy in my collection!

In Conclusion and Upcoming

While 2025 was a busy year for my collecting, it was also a very fun one. So many of the things I picked up this year hold sentimental value beyond just how cool they look or the idea of completing a collection. Truly, I can’t express enough appreciation for how blessed I feel. So many great catches, so many memorable collecting moments, and so many heartfelt gifts along the way.

Here’s to 2026.

Ranni is quite pleased with 2025!
Ranni is quite pleased with 2025!

But before we fully move on to collecting in 2026, 2025 still has a few lingering reviews. POPs that had their photoshoots done last year but never got reviewed, Christmas gifts, the whole nine yards. So while my 2025 list is officially wrapped up, be prepared to see these pop up over the next few weeks—and some of them may even make an appearance in my 2026 Highlights. I’m very excited for this year and very happy with how my list turned out.

Thank you again to everyone who takes the time to read and check out my reviews. I know this isn’t the main draw of my blog, but I genuinely enjoy writing about these pieces and love sharing them. With that said, this Highlight is officially over.

Until Next Time!
