POPMART: Peter B. Parker & May Parker (Across the Spiderverse)

ree

Yes, that's right! This little blind box shenanigan with the Spider-Folks is still going on! And this time around, I snagged Peter B. Parker from my last visit. So let's not delay. Let's take a look at this figurine, shall we?

We'll discuss this later in the post, but yes, I have three out of the ten. That Gwen and that 2099 Spidey is what I really-really want! The Spider-Punk... yeah, let's hope that's not my last snag.

Much like before, the figure stands that is designed to match the Spider-verse portal, which I think is fitting. Peter also comes with a mobile phone, which is distinctly designed to look like your average mobile phone.

Alright! One more time! Let's talk about Peter B. Parker! Initially, I wasn't a fan of this version of Spider-Man. He was made into an actual joke and, again, I'm not a fan, but he won me over. In the second movie, he has a smaller role, and he isn't even in full costume. This POPMART figurine reflects how he looks in the second movie. The details of his robe, with its wrinkles and flaring out from the implied movement, look good as well as odd for a Spidey outfit (no mistake in the figure; it's his design from the movie). Loving that baby carrier and little Mayday looking all happy. Of course, the body proportion is, as always, fitting more into the disproportioned look, with Peter's head looking ginormous. The Spiderverse portal is detailed and works well with Parker jumping out of said portal. Details and sculptwork are well done and accurate to the source material.

The one slipper on his foot is just funny. This man wasn't ready to do whatever a spider does.

The pose is great! Parker jumped out of the portal and took a selfie of himself and Baby Mayday. Not much to say, but I love it. It's a very busy figurine, and the pose has a lot to do with that.

The colors and paint job are something to admire. Clean and sharp, and staying accurate to Peter and May's appearance in the second movie. For a Spider-Man, Peter here is quite colorful, and May also gets a lot for her palette, and this figurine makes sure that it gets all of that. Not a lot of shadowing detail, but it still looks good--though that small 'shadow' wash on Spidey's face makes for a good contrast for sure! The coloring department is a win!

Most probably not the same Mayday, but in another timeline, Peter's daughter does take on the mantle of Spider-Girl, and man, was that version an amazing one!

And here's the crew! The ones that I've collected thus far! It's quite a sight seeing how different and varied these three are!

A cute little figurine, for sure! Much like the others, this is a pretty niche part of my collection and honestly, it's really hard to recommend them since, yes, Peter B. Parker has the details, the pose, and the coloring--it's got a lot of winning factors and for that, I can say it's worth a buy, however, it's not a must have. Do I find myself going to collect more? Yes. Here's to hoping that I don't get duplicates, and, honestly, I just want to go through the cycle of collecting and get different ones every time. Here's to hoping!

Until Next Time!
