What is this?! It's from a POPMART special... blind bags that has Spiderverse related characters--more specifically, Across the Spiderverse movie. Yes, POPMART, the ones that are famous for Labubus. We're not going to talk about those, just ....Jessica Drew from Across the Spiderverse? Yes, my first snag from the bunch. Enough talk, let's review her, shall we?

It's a blind box, so one has to gamble with luck, hoping there aren't any duplicates or one gets their favorite character at some point without dropping a lot of cash. I want Spider-Gwen and 2099, but might as well go through the series, right?

Here are Spider-Woman's accessories! Her earrings, motorcycle, and the Spiderverse portal. These things don't come with a lot, but let's look at the rest of the figure.

For such a small thing, there are a lot of details involved! While I'm not going to sit here and say that I am the biggest fan of the direction they took with Jessica Drew for Spiderverse, I will say that her outfit is somewhat recognizable to Jessica's "Marvel Now" outfit. It's not standing out as something super unique, but I'd say it's one of Jess's best outfits. For Jessica Drew to copy it, well, I guess that's as good as any. I do like the sculpting of the wrinkles and folds on her clothing. Her stomach's got a bump, which, of course, is accurate to her state in the movie. She's pregnant--just like the real Jessica Drew was. This one is very original, I know. Least the sculpting on her hair, the glasses, and her motorcycle are all done nicely. So that's a win for this character. And clearly, this is an unproportioned stylized body figure, and it looks adorable.

I admit that I love the pose! It's very action movie style! The way the portal/stand fits in with Jessica's jump off of her motorcycle as they are coming out of the portal truly plays to the illusion of her getting ready to fight.

The paint job and the color choices does plenty to make the figurine look vibrant while accurate to the source material. The bold and glossy red, sprinkled with some blue shadowing, and gold for some color contrast, it all works together. Pair all that up with the bright orange portal, and you have a very good backdrop for an already good mix of colors with her clothing. Paint execution are clean and the attention to detail makes the paint job be one of this little figurine's strong suits.

As I mentioned, it's a very stylized design, and it's more obvious with the abnormally bigger sized head. I do like that expression she has.

Here's another angle of her action pose!

Clearly, the original Jessica Drew is the better one. And honestly, between the POP, the Bishoujo, and the Smartpop, I'd say this recent snag is my least favorite of the three.

Ironic that she's going to be my first catch in a blind box series. Admittedly, she's got some great things going for her like the pose, the details, the coloring, and all in all, this series has some promise. Not a fan of this character, so there's that but the product itself, I'd say I can recommend if you are into 'gambling' for your figurines. If the rest of the figures are as well cared for as this one, I'd say one can have fun with the set.
Until Next Time!
