Funko POP: Iron Gwen (Gwenverse)

Coming in hot from the "Gwenverse". Yes, that's right. Marvel did a thing with Gwen with other Marvel Characters' powers/gadgets. From my understanding, they were mostly comic book covers, but who knows? I haven't paid attention to comic books like that. But I do pay attention to POPs, so here we go! Let's get into the review, shall we?

This is a neat little idea that truly spells: milk the franchise for every penny it's worth. While I have zero problems with multiverses, sometimes it's plain obvious that a company is trying to get something worthwhile out of a nifty idea (aka Spider-Gwen). I understand the concept, but I do feel the frustration of some fans. Honestly, I love some of the POPs that came out of it. Well, I love half of it.

A bobblehead, of course.
A bobblehead, of course.

How would Gwen wear a super hi-tech suit with mass destruction capabilities? Well, she makes it stylish! Maybe not the most practical, but I guess Gwen has a translucent visor to cover her face? Honestly, her design reminds me of an anime girl with armor: she's got a sleek design, has the bright colors, and the impractical 'helmet'. As a POP, Funko nailed the details. Love the armor sculpting, the way it has that MCU look, but still adhering to the fanciness that the comic book cover gave us. She's also got that cool-looking headband that turns into her helmet (?). The sculpted thruster flames coming out of her boots, the usual work on the hair, it's a well-executed POP just from a sculpting standpoint. Also, this POP is a heavy one. Mostly due to her head, but yes, she's got some serious weight for a common.

The pose is Iron Man-esque: She hovers in the air and points both hands, ready to fire her repulsors. Since she's in flight mode, the stand has plastic connected to her back, which, again, I'm fine with. It's a dynamic-looking POP, for sure!

While Stark already has a vibrant and flashy color scheme in most of his armors (Stealth Mode and such, I'm not counting!), Gwen goes all out with the bright red, yellow, white, and the color synonymous with her: teal! Surprisingly, it all looks good together. The paint execution with the combination of these colors is clean. No missed paint, no bleeding, and the translucent plastic for her 'helmet' and her thrusters are all well done. An added effect might've helped her look more repulsor-ready, but truthfully, the colors all came together!

Ah, Gwenpool! If I remember correctly, she was the original "Gwen variant" that wasn't Gwen Stacy to begin with. Or I could be wrong. Been a bit.

Some of the Gwens that Iron Gwen will have different conversations with, of course.

And here is Gwen next to the Iron Avenger himself! Same pose and energy, but their respective stands set them apart. Also, I think Stark's head is more protected than Gwen's.

A recommendation? Depending on how easily you can swallow a gimmick. It's a good-looking POP with some good details, a hefty amount of plastic with every bit of use. The design is neat, and the colors and pose make her stand out. I'd say it's a good addition for anyone collecting Multiverse Marvel POPs. As far as the others, though? Well, we'll see, yeah?

Until Next Time!
