This guy was definitely in my crosshairs! It's Onslaught--one of the X-Men's most dangerous enemies. Ever since he ran in the late '90s against the entire Marvel Universe, he has always gotten my attention. So, when they announce a POP of him? Yes, had to have him!

Yep! Just Onslaught himself! Guy didn't want to share the wave, apparently. All joking aside, it seems to be a common thread with a lot of the X-Men POPs I've come across.

He's a bobblehead.

Other than having one of the most broken powers that resembles Professor X more than Magneto, Onslaught's entire aesthetics is more or less the Master of Magnetism's than the X-Men's mentor. The signature helmet, the color scheme, it's basically Magneto but Hulked up! And by no means is that a bad thing either. Onslaught's first form is one of my favorite '90s looks for a mega-Supervillain. And, yes, I'm very glad that Funko decided to go for Onslaught's first form! The helmet is well sculpted, having the outlines of the face, the purple bottom rim, and it frames those glaring silver eyes! Loving the work on his body as well--Onslaught has an armored look to him, and this POP did not shortcut that. From the gauntlets with those crazy claws, the boots that are reminiscent of '90s anime, and the body piece that has platings and ridges and linings, it's all there. Again, Funko did not leave anything to the drawing board when it comes to Onslaught's design.

The pose is fitting for Onslaught. He's hovering forward with his hand extended out like he wants you to behold his mighty hand. It's imposing and very super bad guy-like. It is what Onslaught is all about. A bit of an energy sphere out of his hand might boost him up, but we'll leave it here.

Look at all those details!
Look at all those details!

His color is a mix of matted paint and metallic, and all out '90s feel. It's accurate and mostly executed well with very little to no bleeding. Just those metallic purple next to that red just looks amazing and spot on, how the amalgamation of Charles and Erik! He's not really going to be the scariest villain around with that color scheme but he looks amazing as heck!

"No, seriously. Behold His Mighty Hand."

When the X-Men went toe to toe with Onslaught for the first time.... man. I'll never forget that feeling reading those comic book panels. Iceman senses Onslaught with his ice powers and acting all weird. Jean Grey bhad asically known the truth about Charles before Professor X summoned all the X-Men. Rogue felt like a background character (other than when she and Vision smacked Phase II Onslaught and made him lose control), then there's Wolverine.... who was a giant monster creature (moving on). Great times. Seeing them in POP form, well... that's a memory.

ree

Eventually, Red Skull takes Onslaught's power. Weird.

A must? For me? Yes! Worth it? I'd say so. He's got a lot of good details, he is colored well, and he looks like the character. He was a Comicon exclusive, so getting him may be a bit higher in price compared to a common. But I don't regret getting him!

Until Next Time!
