Funko POP: Doctor Doom (Marvel Rivals)

Time to add another Marvel Rivals POP into the fray, right? This time it's none other than the Monarch of Latveria: Victor Von Doom himself--or Dr. Doom. As we all have seen with Marvel characters in this game, Rivals goes a step above to make sure our favorite characters get the updates they deserve. POP-wise, they end up looking really good. So without further ado, let's take a look at Doctor Doom, shall we?

Iron Man looks good, though not sure if I will pull the trigger. Magneto is a bit odd, so he's an easy pass. Initially, I wasn't going to get Doom, but here I am, right?

Of course, he's a bobblehead!

Doctor Doom's outfit has been consistent throughout his decades of terrorizing the Marvel Universe. The green clothing with the hood, the silver metal armor, and, of course, his knack for the magical arts. And, for the most part, all of his interactions had stayed true to that, paying respect to the green and silver, making Doom a very recognizable character. Marvel Rivals didn't stray from that notion, since everything that makes Victor familiar is present. The difference is that they added more style to his cloak by adding more lining and color variations. They also gave him a more regal look to his green tunic, adding some straps, gold chains that connect his cloak to his newly added shoulder pads. His armor has more designs too, more variation of metal parts, more expressions to be told on his helmet. He looks good overall, and I do think Doctor Doom needs to have this same vibe when he initially gets introduced to the MCU. Funko did a fine job translating all of his new designs to his POP, from the wrinkles of his hood and cape to the dips and dents of his armor. Really awesome all in all on the sculpting part.

I'm not entirely getting the reference to his pose. Maybe he is doing magic? It's very Doctor Doom-like like though. He's standing-looking imposing, and just overall, looks like a stance that Victor Von Doom would have. Arms crossed and standing there would've sufficed more.

Colors are done well enough. Some of the lines of the paint are a bit off, like the ones on Doom's cape; his helmet has paint defects as well, which is unfortunately obvious to see without trying too hard. But despite all of that, Doctor Doom still looks amazing. The silver is a great color to bounce off that green, and the additional color variations due to Rivals' design truly makes this look stand out. All in all, it's not terrible, just a little below the bar from what I've seen from Funko as of late.

Seriously, what is he holding? Maybe it gets explained in the game. Not sure.

Victor has gone after Galactus a bit more than he needs to. Pretty sure he'd go after Galacta to given the chance and given that he has the capability to. These POPs look good together, though.

These two should never work together. Given the circumstances here, I'm pretty sure that Red Skull will just be a thrall for Doom.

Now that is peak Dr. Doom aura right there! Menacing, imposing, and downright royalty in every single way! I guess if the POP was able to pronounce the white fur around his cloak more, it would've added more punch to his appearance. Still, Funko got what they could with their stylized proportions.

I wouldn't say this POP is a must, and I'm sure there are other classic POPs out there for Doom. Still, the design is top notch and despite the paint flaws, it's still a decent POP. Recommend? Yes. Must? No. If you pull the trigger, you'd have a good enough Dr. Doom in your POP lineup.
