Funko POP: M'aiq The Liar

Ah! M'aiq the Liar! A very staple character of the Elder Scroll series. I always enjoy his meta comments and his insights on things. It definitely adds a humorous layer over the sometimes-trying-to-be-serious vibe of the Elder Scrolls (which I love, mind you). Well, here's his #POP! Let's see if #Funko delivered on this popular character!

It definitely adds a humorous layer over the sometimes-trying-to-be-serious vibe of the Elder Scrolls (which I love, mind you). Well, here's his in my collection for some time now. While, true, I would want a few more Skyrim characters like the Ebony Warrior, Boethiah, Nocturnal, etc, but hey! I'm going to just say that having M'aiq is just fine.

Sad that the Skyrim series only got one wave of love from Funko. Again, I'm sure we would have gotten more cool beings like the Daedric Princes and other cool/popular NPC. As it is, M'aiq is just a 'special' release along with Sheogorath. They're not even pictured in the box.

The first thing I want to point out is that this is the first #POP that I have come across where the head is not articulated. Perhaps because the pose is so fitting for M'aiq is the reason why they went with this direction--wonder if this is the only POP with this 'feature'(?).

As far as the look for M'aiq, of course, it'll be his Skyrim appearance. In both Oblivion and Skyrim (the only two games I played in Elder Scrolls series), M'aiq is seen wearing a mage robe. Whether this is his trend and will continue to be in future installments, all I know is that I do prefer his less vibrant clothing attire in Skyrim. It complements the Khajiit's natural color far more than the teal mage outfit in Oblivion. I do hope that he is given a unique outfit in future installments--but hey, we'll see. Other than that, his POP form translates really well. I do like the pose, the details, and the love given to his character. There are especially great little neat details placed with the stitching and the wrinkles, which I can always appreciate. His face also has a good amount of detail to make him stand out from the typical POP. Really, there was a lot of love here and him being a humanoid cat plays a part in that.

I do like the details on the buckle across his hood/scarf/cowl.

The color, as I have said, is very accurate to his game counterpart. I do like the earth tones and Funko pulls it off! M'aiq is also one of the few POPs that have unique eye colors and not the typical black.

Here is M'aiq next to fellow Skyrim POP, the Daedric Warrior. I know, he doesn't look imposing like the Oblivion warrior there, but they both look extremely cool together (might do another review of the Daedric POP).

Here is M'aiq next to other Elder Scrolls POP: Altmer(?) from Elder Scrolls Online and Vivec from Morrowind.

M'aiq is one of those signature characters that deserves some kind of merchandise. I do enjoy and adore this character so having him in POP form is not a bad idea at all. Here's to hoping that Funko delves into other characters from Skyrim and/or other Elder Scrolls (like Boethiah and Nocturnal, please!).

Until Next Time!
