Funko POP: Pikachu - Premium

Another Pokémon! Another Pikachu POP! Surprisingly, my special friend doesn't own a lot of Pikachus, but as they come out with more special edition that tickles her fancy, I will get them for her. For now, let's take a look at this, shall we?
Add some elemental attacks and a little bit of designed stand, and we've got ourselves a premium POP! A bit more on the pricier side, but it does come with a bit more than a common one, I suppose.
Pikachu is practically the face of Pokémon — cute, cuddly, and capable of shooting out electricity. That last part doesn’t always match the “cute and cuddly” vibe, but this POP pulls it off perfectly. He looks adorable while letting loose with one of his electric attacks. The sculpt on Pikachu is spot-on, and with all the Pikachu POPs Funko has released over the years, they’ve clearly gotten the formula down. The big gimmick here is the lightning attack effect surrounding him, acting as a dynamic backdrop. The figure stands in a grassy patch with enough sculpted details to look convincing. All in all, it’s a really good-looking POP with some nice details.
It’s all about the pose! As I mentioned, the main gimmick of this POP is its dynamism. Pikachu is attacking as it runs across the battlefield, a charged-up electric attack right behind it. It’s really well done and super convincing. I also love his expression — cute but ready to fry someone’s butt!
The colors are actually really good. Pikachu’s yellow is bold and contrasts nicely with the black, red, and brown accents. That said, the yellow on the electricity effects does kind of blend in with his natural body color, even though it’s accurate to the anime. I wish they had used more transparent plastic and done a bit more to make the attack sphere stand out against all the yellow. Still, it’s well-painted overall. The colors are vibrant and accurate.
I did mention in my soft color Pikachu review that I would want this Pikachu for my special friend. Lo and behold!
I never reviewed Raichu. Honestly, I love Raichu's look more than Pikachu, but we all know that Raichu isn't going to be the cutest icon all around. Still, these two look good together!
POP: Pikachu & Lightning Element
These premium POPs are really doing justice to these Pokémon. Yes, spoiler alert — there are more coming (I may have already pre-ordered some for my friend, who knows). Pikachu looks amazing thanks to the great sculpt. Even with my minor complaint about the electricity effect, it’s still a really good POP, and my friend loves it. Definitely something every Pokémon collector should check out!
