Iron Man coming in for the landing--after he suits up and makes a grand entrance, of course. I am very excited for this POP!
Another lone POP in a wave that is meant for exclusives. Based on the MCU Iron Man, it's a good-looking box and it gives that prestige look with how the box is designed and that red and black sticker.
There's no beating around the bush with this one. I'm going to say that this is an amazing POP. There are so many sculpted details, especially on the side where the Iron Man suit is present. I love the pose. It's simple but it allows the gimmick of this POP to shine. One thing obvious about this POP is that he is not symmetrical when it comes to his design. Half of him is Stark's business suit, while the other half is his armor--the nanotech forming and around him, covering half of his body. There are so many little details given to the half where his armor is almost fully formed. They truly made sure to capture the nanotech spreading to cover Tony. That part is this POP's selling point and I can't do the description justice. So many 'moving parts' and so much work done to give that illusion of 'transformation'. And it's not like the side of him that is just a business suit wasn't given attention either. Both sides have their winning qualities and, of course, the head has its own quick with the glasses detailed quite well and the helmet that is forming also has its fair share of sculpt work.
Look at all those beautiful details, the armor spreading and forming around Tony's body. It's just well done! I love it! The 'moving parts' illusion works here and it's even more impressive when both sides of the POP look nothing alike.
The color/paint department is top-notch. The fact that it's a very drastic color change works in the POP's favor. The side that is Tony Stark has a dark, professional, and very conservative coloring while the Iron Man side is, of course, flashy and every bit the signature red and gold that we are familiar with.
This POP can be an MCU or comic book Tony Stark/Iron Man. Here are some of his armor during his MCU run.
Robert Downey Jris now synonymous with Iron Man. Doesn't hurt that he can pull off a good Tony Stark so I'm all for it.
Classic comic book armor next to a 'modern' suit. technology and narrative sure changed over the years, eh?
This is a masterpiece. One of Funko's best POPs! It may be too soon but I'd say this is going to be my POP of the year. Once again, my good friend managed to catch this one for me and I couldn't be any more grateful. If he doesn't win the POP of the year, no doubt he will be in the top three. Awesome sculpting, amazing coloring, and the idea all meshed together pretty well. I'm happy to have him.
Until next Time!
