Alucard is a big piece of my gaming life back in the early and late '90s. I played the living heck of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, and who didn't overplay his featured game, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night? When I found out that he was going to make an appearance in a very adult-themed show, I was pretty excited! Shame on me for missing his first POP (along with Trevor Belmont's)! But here is Alucard's Nocturne version, and I'm pretty excited to review him.

Was tempted to get Olrox. But he's a deviation from the Olrox I knew, so maybe not?

Alucard in Nocturne is very close to his Symphony of the Night version. While classic Alucard had a wide array of weapons and flashy cloaks, the Netflix version is more restrained—and the Funko POP captures that well. He’s got the black cloak, the refined outfit, long black boots, and he wields the Sword Familiar, a smart touch that blends his familiar and main weapon into one.

The sculpt work is where this POP really shines. The folds and weight of the cloak are well done, with natural-looking wrinkles that give it presence. The head sculpt is clean and accurate, with his sharp features and flowing hair sculpted to frame his face nicely without looking stiff or flat. The sword is spot-on to the show, rounding out a sculpt that feels faithful and well thought out overall.

Alucard’s pose is far from dynamic. Given how many action-heavy scenes he has, a more aggressive, action-based pose would’ve elevated this POP to a higher level—especially if his cloak were extended and shown in its full glory. That said, the neutral, display-friendly stance works just fine. It keeps the POP from feeling overdone, and in the end, there are no real complaints.

His colors are just fine. The paint work on the smaller details of his suit stands out nicely against the mostly black plastic. The white hair paired with his pale skin looks great, with subtle shadowing that helps separate the colors rather than letting them blend. The glowing yellow eyes are spot on as well. Alucard’s color palette is naturally monotone, and that works in his favor here. Funko did well replicating his look from the series, which is a definite plus. Clean paint, well executed.

He looks handsome and dangerous. That's a perfect representation of the son of Count Dracula!

These two’s dynamic in the first four seasons was gold. I really wish I had picked up Trevor to complete the trio. Even though these two POPs were released years apart, the consistency in Funko’s detailing and character accuracy remains solid.

Father and son! These two POPs displayed next to each other truly complement one another. Even though this Dracula POP was released years apart from Alucard, they still look great side by side. Alucard’s cape has noticeably more sculpted detail, while Dracula’s is a bit flatter by comparison—but all in all, they still look awesome together on display.

Alucard and Maria’s interaction in Nocturne is very telling. If the Netflix series plans to follow the Symphony of the Night storyline, these two are clearly being set up as something important. It’s a bit hard to fully picture right now, especially given how vast the age gap is, but the groundwork is there. That said, their NocturnePOP versions are awesome, and they look great displayed next to each other.

Alucard and Drolta's fight scenes were something to admire! As POPs, they hold that same presence, and I'm all the more happy for it!

Is this a must-have POP? Honestly, for me, yes. Alucard was a huge part of my gaming life at one point, so this one hits. Does it have things that could be improved? Absolutely. A more action-oriented pose would’ve been appreciated, and the design does lean toward a “vanilla” Alucard—like when Death strips you of your gear—but I guess that’s kind of the point here. All in all, it’s an awesome POP and another solid catch from last year. I’m happy with it.

Until Next Time!
