Funko POP: Esmarelda & Djali

Another Disney “princess” that doesn’t get the credit she deserves! And another POP that my girlfriend got for herself — I’m glad she did. She hardly spoils herself, so seeing her treat herself is always nice. But let’s go ahead and take a look at this POP and see how it turned out, shall we?
A very small series with Quasimodo and Esmeralda with Djali. I think my Girlfriend is just going to stay with Esmeralda.
Esmeralda has a few outfits throughout the movie. This particular POP features the one she wore while hypnotizing 90s boys and girls to oblivion. While Esmeralda isn’t an “official” princess like Ariel, Belle, Aurora, or Rapunzel, this dress gives her that charming, vibrant vibe. It even reminds me a bit of one of Jasmine’s outfits!
As far as the POP itself, the details are well sculpted. I love how the fabric of her dress moves with her dance. Her trinkets — the tiara/headpiece, bracelets, and more — are all visible and add to the overall look. It’s a really good-looking piece.
It’s more or less a “movie moment.” This “disgusting dance” seduced even Claude Frollo’s high-and-mighty self. While the lovely Esmeralda had a lot of motion and movement in the scene, a stylized figurine like a Funko POP can’t fully mimic that, but it still tries. It’s honestly one of the stronger traits of this POP.
This Gypsy Woman’s dress for the scene is bold, warm, and honestly — if we’re going off Mr. Frollo’s description — a hint of hellfire and demonic temptation. Much like the motion, I won’t say this POP completely captured that, but the color choices and paint execution are as accurate as can be. The skin tone is spot-on and blends well with Esmeralda’s warm color palette. The gold highlights on her jewelry are also an awesome touch. All in all, I’m really impressed.
Very tiny specs of paint defects, but that's just me nitpicking.
If I were to complain, maybe add one of Esmarelda's accessories? Perhaps the scarf around her? Or maybe the tambourine? Again, just nitpicking.
Can’t say too much about Djali, but he has the same level of detail as other tiny companions like Dodger and Oliver. He’s sculpted nicely, colored accurately, and there are no paint defects worth mentioning.
All in all, the addition of Djali is a nice touch. Even if I’d prefer some of her other accessories, the little goat’s presence isn’t detrimental at all.
My Girlfriend asked what I was doing with this picture because Djali had every right to be in the pic. Yes, a fumble since Moana and Pocahontas have Heihei and Meeko respectively. Yes, I know!
I'd categorize these three as obscure and 'don't-get-the-credit-they-deserve' princesses. Especially Raya and Kida, who, let's just put it this way, ain't no traditional female protagonists within the Disney umbrella.
POP: Colored Princesses
This is another solid Disney POP that captures Esmeralda’s charm and that memorable dance scene really well. Between the sculpt, colors, and little details, it’s a win — especially with Djali tagging along. My girlfriend is happy with it, and so am I. If you’re a fan of The Hunchback of Notre Dame or just love vibrant Disney characters, this one’s worth adding to the shelf. My Girlfriend also loves this POP! Definitely recommended!
