Another Symbiote Spider-Man? Not just another Symbiote Spidey, it's the TAS Symbiote Spider-Man! I feel like he didn't have a long enough arc in the show, but the two episodes we got him in, Symbiote Spidey in the TAS was one of the best showings of the Black Spider-Man arc that I've seen. Finding out that we were going to get a POP of him, of course, I had to get him! So here we are! Let's get into the review, shall we?

It's a pretty small wave. The Green Goblin looks sick, but I'm sticking with my Spiderverse collection for now.

Before we get into the POP, let's take a listen to all the great lines from when Pete got the Black Symbiote suit.

A bobblehead, of course.
A bobblehead, of course.

I'm not going to repeat (too much) about my love for Symbiote Spider-Man. It's just a good look for him, sleek, dark, but still giving off a presence that the red and blue can't match. While he doesn't have too much complex design to him, no extra bumps and ridges, and all of that, the purpose of this POP is to do the magic they've been doing with Spidey POPs and give Symbiote Spidey a new pose. Honestly, they succeeded. It's simple and accurate, which is all we need.

He's not shooting a web, but he's also not standing still. This Spidey is jumping into action or perhaps mid-webslinging. Regardless, it's a Spider-Man with a dynamic pose that is held up by a stand that allows this aerial posture. Simple, but it gets the point across: it's Spidey ready to jump into action!

Much like the sculpt and the pose, the colors and paint job don't need to be extravagant to hit the mark. Symbiote Spidey's color scheme consists of black and white. Funko got that right before, so this time around, it shouldn't be rocket science. Suffice it to say, they pulled it off. TAS Symbiote Spidey also had this blue shadowing whenever it was hitting the light, and that is present here. The blue shading adds more to this POP and sets it apart from other Symbiote Spidey POPs.

That base Spidey POP really could be a TAS took, huh? Wonder if they will ever come out with TAS Spidey? Regardless, these two look right next to each other.

While Spider-Man 2 did not hit the right marks, it did have some cool moments with the Symbiote. Right next to a simpler TAS Black Spidey, it's a nice contrast.

Speaking of contrasts, here is POP Venom next to the new POP TAS Black Spidey. Even if the Venom isn't a TAS, he still works for the most part. I do have a feeling they have a POP TAS Venom somewhere, or they're going to come out with one.

Here are my Symbiote Spidey collection without the Gamerverse Spider-Man 2 Symbiote takeover and the POP Comic Book Cover. I hope they continue to release more Symbiote Spidey, both in classic and other iterations.

"The Check's in the mail, baby!"
"The Check's in the mail, baby!"

Yeah, he had a presence that was worth remembering. I wish he had more episodes, though! Maybe we'll get an epic cinematic version... hopefully.

It's an easy recommendation. Truth to be told, you know what you should get when you see a Symbiote Spider-Man item. Whether it's a Hot Toy or a POP, it has to hit the simple idea of this iconic costume--then give it a small hint of an artistic spin to differentiate it from the others and...boom. A simple formula that this POP hits. And I couldn't be any happier.

Until Next Time!
