Funko POP: Peni Parker's SP//DR (Marvel Rivals) - Super

It’s a SP//DR POP! This character is one of those Spider-Verse additions I didn’t think I needed… until I did. Peni Parker’s SP//DR is one of my favorite designs from the Spider-Verse, and I’m really glad she (and her mech) got a role in Marvel Rivals. Let’s check out this POP, shall we?

Very small wave. Honestly, I'm waiting for them to release the other Psylocke.

Before I dive in, I have to say I was really hoping there’d be a way to include Peni Parker with this figure. Alas, it’s just the mech, so we’ll review and enjoy it as a standalone piece.
The design for SP//DR was at its peak in the comics and in Rivals. It really does look like Evangelion’s Eva Unit-02, and that influence is just awesome. As a POP, it retains a lot of those aesthetics: the thin, humanoid frame, the long arms and legs, and the head that still manages to resemble a stylized Spider-Man mask. There’s a ton of sculpt work here, and it’s honestly hard to put into words how well it all came together. Funko did an amazing job — this is a real sight for sore eyes as a POP.

SP//DR’s pose is based on an in-game render. It’s solid and dynamic, though it would’ve looked even better if Peni was included somehow — maybe as a permanent fixture on the mech’s back or as a paired mini-figure. Still, the pose works well on its own.

They didn’t slack on the paint job either. The metallic red looks fantastic and dominates the figure, while the silver and subtle gold accents are accurate and cleanly executed.

A far cry from your traditional Spider-Man, right? SP//DR also got some height to her.

This pairing is a bit more justified. Are we going to get a Leopardon POP?

Not exactly a Spider-Woman, but I'd put Peni and SP//DR under that umbrella because I like them that much. Albeit, we are missing Peni...

While one is a gamerverse and the other is from the cinematic universe, they both have a LOT in common. That would be a cool fight between SP//DR and Hulkbuster, but I feel like Stark's (if it were him piloting that version of the armor) experience will have a huge advantage over Peni's.

SP//DR isn't exactly the right size and type that Ms. Langley usually pilots, but I feel like she can make this work.
POP: Spiders, Sentais, & a Pilot
It really was a missed opportunity not to include Peni with this SP//DR. I could be wrong and a Peni Parker POP might still be on the way, but I would’ve loved to see them paired together.

This is easily one of my favorite POPs of the year so far. Back when I completed the Marvel Legends SP//DR BAF, I ranked it among my top figures of that year, and a big reason was the design translating so well into physical form. The same holds true here. The sculpt, the metallic red paint, the overall presence — it all looks just like the source material. It’s a shame Peni doesn’t get the same spotlight in her Rivals form that characters like Psylocke, White Queen, Sue Storm, or even Jubilee receive, and it’s an even bigger shame this POP didn’t come with her. But as a standalone piece, SP//DR still delivers strong details, great colors, and faithful design. It’s an awesome POP, and I highly recommend it.
